Pencilcase... and the future!

Today I went to Harbour Town (massive factory direct shopping outlet near the airport) for the first time. I got a whole bunch of clothes and this cute little cupcake pencil case for only $55!

You can see four little cupcakes in the picture too. They are for a friend who I am making a big clay order for :) I have made nine pairs of candy canes for them and will make another five pairs of cupcakes to send on Thursday.

But in the biggest news! I got great grades this year (High Distinction, two Distinctions, two Credits and two Pass Level 1!). So I have a GPA of 5.37 (out of 7) and I'm now anxiously waiting for the first week of January when the first round of uni offers are made.

My first preference is Visual Arts so I will be doing this kind of thing (the clay and jewellery) for my degree! I'm so excited :)

More clay work!

Since returning from my four day break at Milang, I have already done a six hour shift at work and been run off my feet - and I was supposed to be relaxing! Lucky I have tomorrow off work but am actually heading into the city to sign contracts for a temporary position with UniSA next year as an enrolment buddy. ^^

Today I made some little clay creations:
The Current Clay Collection
Here's the full collection so far (click to be taken through to Flickr and see them in a big size!)
I made a cake, a burger and a hot dog today. I will try some more cupcakes later, now that I have the good tools for making this stuff I hope that it will get better :)

Phew!

I'm back from holidays!

I know I didn't mention I was going (oops!) but it was such a rush in the end. Last week I rushed to finish two essays for uni and also go to work a lot then my boyfriend and I fled the city to go and stay at Milang, which is on Lake Alexandrina. The drought has definitely taken its toll there, it is incredibly obvious compared to years ago last time I was down there.

I have also discovered the awesome metabolism boosting tablets which have helped with my weight, as I lost over a kilo last week! (WOO HOO!)

I will write a little more later on when this week swings into gear. I was lucky enough to get offered a full days work tomorrow, that's almost a weeks pay in one day!

Polymer Clay!

Foreword (or whatever they call it...)

This blog is my diary. I used to have a LiveJournal about 303059345 years ago in high school that I wrote in everyday about all my day-to-day stuff. I want to try and get back into that so here I am. I have another blog, called Vanilla Silence, but I don't tend to write stuff like that there.

I have always loved cupcakes and one day last year when I was very sick, persisted in making them even when I was falling over clutching myself in the foetal position. Recently my love for them has grown again and today I decided to make this blog. I hope you enjoy it!

xoxo Monnie

------------------

Today Cas and I went to Tea Tree Plaza to scout around for random things... Nerf Guns, dresses, you know.. The usual o.O and I decided to pick up some polymer clay.

If you don't know what it is, polymer clay is actually plastic, but is like clay when it is soft (not fired). You shape what you want to make and then whack it in the oven on 110C for about 15 minutes.

The colours are about $4.00 each and there's so many! Plus you can combine them to create a new colour. I bought sparkly red, sparkly white, yellow, green and black. I got some tools to help me - but I think I just wasted a bit of money doing that. I also got some sealant spray to use when it cools to gloss it up a bit.

Because I love cupcakes and especially minature cupcakes, I decided to make one for my first attempt. Well, the first REAL attempt didn't go so well so I tried again and it's currently in the oven.

I love being arty and making things. I see on the internet all the time someone is awesome at something.. I'm just good at a lot of things. I wish that I could make something awesome or do something awesome but unfortunately I just know how to do a little bit of everything. Which I guess is a great thing, but when you want to make something awesome and in demand it's hard because you're not fantastic at it.

...Did I say awesome about twenty times then?

Anyway, that's that. And as a bonus I also got a food care package from my Grandma today which I'm extremely pleased about! My tummy is rumbling as I'm writing this.

Just went and checked on my little cupcake - five minutes to go on the timer! I'm so excited. Pictures will follow, I promise! :D
